In the latest addition to the smart home devices, Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi introduced its Redmi Smart Display 8 in China The company additionally launched a 9.8-inch smart TV and the Redmi Smart TV Max. The Redmi Smart Display 8 offers a portable form-factor with the company’s Xiao AI Touchscreen display. It is also equipped with a built-in camera and powered by the in-house Xiao AI assistant.
The new device comes with Black and White color options and available for the crowdfunding platform in China.
Redmi Smart Display 8: Specifications and features
Design-wise, the new device quite similar to Xiaomi XiaoAI Touchscreen Speaker Pro 8, unveiled in December last year. The new device comes with the support of voice and touches controls like the previous model.
There is a large 8-inch touchscreen display featuring a 178-degree wide-viewing angle. The device occupied a special lamination that reduces reflection. It can also protect against eye strains. Besides, there is a built-in speaker positioned under the screen.
The new device powered by the third-generation Xiao AI assistant that supports video platforms and the device also acts as a hub for controlling various smart devices as well.
For video calling, you find an HD camera on the front panel that is supported for multi-device calls. Besides, there is also available a custom kids mode that offers kids-focused content and child face recognition.
For connectivity, it comes with a built-in Bluetooth that allows you to connect Bluetooth-equipped devices with a single touch.
Price and availability
In China, the Redmi smart device price set for CNY 349 and it is currently listed on the Xiaomi China website. As for availability, it will be available via crowdfunding from March 27 However, the tech giant has not yet been announced on the global price and availability details of the new smart speaker.
