Motorola Edge+ and the Edge smartphones have introduced by Lenovo owned company Motorola. Both the latest phones offer punch-hole style designs with a waterfall display. The Edge+ gets a triple camera setup while the Edge model has a quad-camera system. The Edge+ variant controlled by a flagship processor and the other is powered by mid-range internals. They also provide a single storage option.
Both phone Design and display
Design-wise, they come with the same punch-hole style along with a single front camera with a curved display. On the rear, the Edge+ model equipped with a triple rear camera whereas the Edge variant has a quad-camera unit.
They retain the same 6.7-inch full-HD+ OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. However, the Plus model gets HDR10+ certification and the Edge has an IP54 certified. Both smartphones have an in-display fingerprint sensor.
The camera setup of the phones
In the imaging department, the Plus model has a 108MP (f/1.8) primary camera with a 0.8-micron pixel size, a 16MP (f/2.2) wide-angle sensor with a 117-degree field of view (FoV), an 8MP telephoto lens that supports OIS and 3x optical zoom. Moreover, the main camera is capable of 6K videos recording @30fps. Alongside this, there is a Time of Flight (ToF) sensor.
The Edge model is featuring a 64MP (f/1.8) main sensor with 0.8-micron pixel size, a 16MP (f/2.2) wide-angle lens with a 117-degree field of view (FoV), an 8MP (f/2.4) telephoto lens that can deliver 2x optical zoom. This phone also has a ToF sensor.
Up front, that offers the same 25MP (f/2.0) front camera for selfies and video calling.
How is the internals of both phones?
Motorola provides a flagship Snapdragon 865 processor in the Edge+ phone, paired with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage (non-expandable).
The Edge model is powered by the Snapdragon 765 processor, matched with 6GB of RAM and 128GB onboard storage. Interestingly, this storage can be expandable up to 1TB via a microSD card.
Connectivity and sensors
In terms of connectivity options, they received the same connectivity such as dual-SIM (Nano), 5G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS/AGPS, GLONASS, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Onboard sensors include an accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity, ambient light, and sensor hub.
They run with stock Android 10 OS and as for battery, the Edge+ includes a 5,000mAh battery with the support of 18W fast charging, 15W wireless charging, and 5W reverse wireless charging features. The mid-ranger model equipped with a 4,500mAh battery that supports 18W TurboPower charging technology without wireless charging support.
Further, the Motorola Edge series provide Waves-tuned dual stereo speakers for superior audio output.
Price and availability options
The Motorola Edge is priced at EUR 699 with Smoky Sangria and Thunder Grey color options and the Edge+ comes with the price tag of at $999 with Solar Black and Midnight Magenta finish.
In the US, the Edge+ will go on sale starting on May 14 via Verizon, however, there is no information regarding sale for the Edge model.
