Dell XPS 15 9500 (known as XPS 15 2020) and XPS 17 9700 (known as XPS 17 2020) has launched. Both laptops powered by the 10th-generation Intel Core processors and they come with a new design as well as individual screen size. Along with this, both XPS 15 and XPS 17 deliver up to 25 hours of battery life with just a single charge. Hardware-wise, they are almost the same.
Dell XPS 15 9500: Specifications and features
The XPS 15 9500 retains a bezel-less screen design and a 15.6-inch InfinityEdge display including a 16:10 aspect ratio. Besides, the laptop provides two screen options; one is 4K UHD+ (3840×2400 pixels) resolution touchscreen while another comes with a Full-HD+ (1920×1200 pixels) non-touchscreen screen.
Dell updated the speaker placement of this XPS 15 model that is on the dock along with the keyboard. This will help provide a better audio experience on predecessors that have speakers at the bottom of the keyboard.
The machine powered by the 10th-generation Intel Core i5-10300H on the base variant that goes up to the 10th-generation Intel Core i9-10885H paired with up to 32GB of DDR4 SDRAM and up to Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Ti GPU. As for storage, it offers up to 1TB of PCIe 3 SSD storage. However, you can also get a 256GB or 512GB storage option as well.
The updated new model is tuned to the built-in Waves NX 3D audio. This technology allows you to move your head while wearing headphones to align the direction of sound in your visual point of view. To enhance the audio, it uses head-tracking via speakers.
As for dual-screen options (touch and non-touch), it has an 86Whr battery for the touchscreen model while the non-touch version packs with a 56Whr battery and powered by Windows 10 Home operating system.
Connectivity options are in this machine such as Bluetooth v5.0, Wi-Fi 6, two numbers of Thunderbolt 3 ports, and it has a USB Type-C 3.1 port for power delivery and DisplayPort. Further, the XPS 15 9500 includes a 3.5mm headphone jack and a dual microphone array.
Finally, it launched with 344.72×230.14x18mm size and weighs up to 2.05 kilograms.
Dell XPS 17 9700: Specifications and features
The XPS 17 9700 comes with the same bezel-less screen along with a larger 17-inch InfinityEdge display with 94% DCI-P3 color gamut and supports Dolby Vision. Like XPS 15 it also has two screen options including 4K UHD+ touchscreen and full-HD+ non-touchscreen.
The machine also is in tune with Waves MaxxAudio Pro and Waves NX 3D audio technologies. It is featuring two woofers (2.5W) and two tweeters (1.5W).
This model also packs with up to 10th-generation Intel Core i9-10885H processor coupled with up to 64GB of DDR4 SDRAM and supports up to Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 graphics card. Unlike XPS 15, it has a maximum of 2TB PCIe 3 SSD storage. It comes with up to 97Whr battery and it also runs Windows 10 Home.
Connectivity options included like – Bluetooth v5.0, Wi-Fi 6, four numbers of Thunderbolt 3 ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack. It packed with a USB Type-C to USB-A 3.0 port as well as an HDMI 2.0 adapter. The machine is 374.45×248.05×19.5mm in size and weighs up to 2.51 kg.
Price and availability details
In the US, the XPS 15 9500 model comes with starting price at $1,299.99 and the XPS 17 9700 variant starts at $1,499.99. For moving data from existing Windows-based PC, the company offers the Dell Migrate tool only at $39 with these models.
The XPS 15 model is available in Canada and the US starting today and it will kick off some Asian and European markets this weekend. The XPS 17 will be available in some Asian and European markets as well as Canada and the United States sometime later this summer. However, there is no word on India’s availability.
