Apart from Mi 10 5G phone and Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Xiaomi also announced another Mi Box 4K streaming device in India via its launch event. The device is powered by the Android TV 9 Pie that plugs into existing TV via the HDMI port and it allows you to access apps, services as well as popular streaming services like Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Hotstar, and Disney+, etc. on your Android TV.
Mi Box 4K: Specifications and features
The device comes with a compact design with remote control and can be easily placed on a table and can connect it by using an HDMI cable which included in the box content. Xiaomi uses a 64 bit 2.0Ghz quad-core Amlogic processor and it provides 2GB of RAM as well as 8GB of built-in storage so you can store any app into this device.
Further, it will be able to play 4K and HDR content from streaming platforms – Amazon Prime Video and Netflix with streaming up to 4K in HDR10 format. The Mi Box 4K device is capable to run only the stock Android TV interface. Since the device is targeted at advanced users who typically know what they are looking for.
As for connectivity, the Mi Box 4K is Wi-Fi enabled, moreover, you to get a USB port and a 3.5mm digital out socket, and you can also connect headphones or wireless speakers with its Bluetooth. You can use it as a local media player for the USB port and has extensive support for various video and audio file formats. The device allows users to cast content in resolutions up to 4K thanks to the built-in Chromecast Ultra. Unfortunately, it doesn’t support Dolby Vision content. It is also featuring Google Assistant.
