Apple has released its updated iPad Air with a new design, large display, and powerful new processor. The new Apple iPad Air (4th Gen) shows the imprint of the iPad Pro lineup. But some of the changes are absolutely new and the price is also lower than the Pro model. The new iPad Air will be made available in five colors – Silver, Space Grey, Rose Gold, Green, and Sky Blue.
Apple iPad Air (4th Gen): Design
The new design of the iPad Air has taken inspiration from the old generation iPad Air. It has a 10.9-inch homescreen, but no physical buttons. The Touch ID fingerprint sensor has been replaced by the FaceID camera. Power/Power to Sensors Is integrated into the standby button and the edges are flat. The new tablet will also work with Apple’s Magic Keyboard.
According to Apple, the liquid retina display used in iPad Air is fully laminated with anti-reflective coating. Its resolution is 2360×1640 pixels. It supports the P3 wide color gamut and Apple’s true tone color adjustment feature.
Apple A14 Bionic processor inside
The new Apple A14 processor has been used in iPad Air (4th Gen). It is claimed that it will give 40% better CPU performance as well as a 30% faster graphics performance than the old generation processor.
Connectivity options
The new iPad Air has a USB Type-C port, not Apple’s Lightning connector. The speed of data transfer will go up to 5Gbps. The new iPad Air supports up to external storage devices and 4K monitors via Type-C port.
A 12 megapixel rear camera
There is a 12 megapixel rear camera on the back and a 7 megapixel front camera. Talking about camera features, the front camera is capable of recording 1080 pixels video and better low-light performance. Similarly, the rear camera also supports focus pixels and stabilized 4K video recording. The device is apple pencil supported and it has a magnetic connector through which the pencil can be charged or stored. For audio, it includes stereo speakers.
Price of the Apple iPad Air (4th Gen)
The Wi-Fi 64GB storage model price is Rs 54,900, while the 256GB model can be purchased at Rs 68,900. On the other hand, the cellular 64GB model cost is Rs 66,900 and the 256GB model of this variant would be Rs 80,900.
Apart from that, Apple has also refreshed the entry level iPad line up. The price of 32GB and 128GB storage variant of its Wi-Fi version is Rs 29,900 and Rs 37,900 respectively. The prices of cellular models with the same storage capacity are Rs 41,900 and Rs 49,900 respectively. It will soon be made available in Silver, Space Grey and Rose Gold, but the date has not yet been disclosed.
iPad (8th Gen): Design and performance
Apple’s classic iPad design is retained in the new iPad (8th Gen). You will get a physical home button with a 10.2 inch retina display. It uses a 12 bionic processor that claims to give 40% faster performance than the old generation processor. You can configure third-party keyboard accessories with it and supports 1st Gen Apple pencil.
It is equipped with an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 1.2-megapixel front camera. This model still has a lightning connector.
Both iPad models run on iPadOS 14 which will be released on September 16 for older iPad models.
